Reversible Apron!

I have this cute friend that I have mentioned several times on my blog. She just had a birthday and I just couldn't resist making her an apron. She loves aprons and always wears them. So when I walked into my local quilt store and saw the cutest reversible apron, I knew this was meant for my dear friend. It is Christmas on one side and everyday on the other. I think I am going to put Happy Birthday on the everyday side and Merry Christmas on the Christmas side. She will get a big kick out of it! Are you ready to see it? Here it is!

Window Valences!

I am so excited that my grandma came over and helped me make some window valences this weekend! I painted my kitchen and 1 dining room wall burnt orange a few months ago and I have wanted these done ever since! I actually have had the material for a few months as well. They still wouldn't be done if it wasn't for my sweet grandma. She came over and wasn't going to leave until I got them done! I love how they turned out and it adds so much to my walls!

4th of July Table Runner!

I am so excited for the 4th of July! I love decorating and celebrating this holiday! Since I don't have enough days of the week for my patriotic crafts, I will be posting a few times a day to show them off! 

The first one I would like to show off is my July table runner! I found this pattern at my local quilt store and I had to make one. I loved how it turned out!

I am now debating if I should quilt on some fireworks throughout the whole thing!

Little handbag!

I am so excited to show off my newest project! I made this little handbag out of a new line of Moda fabric!

The girls at our church made these as a secret sister gift for girls camp this year! The intentions were for the girls to bring their scriptures in them to church! There is a pocket on the front of the bag and then I made another little pocket for pens, highlighters, or chap stick!

Don't look at my flaws, this was my first one! I intend to fix my mistakes on my next ones that I will make! I am in the process of opening an ETSY store! My question for all of you reading this is if you would purchase one of these if you saw them in a store?

I also think that I will make some bigger sizes as well! I need feedback, what do you think?

Fabric Pinwheels with Tutorial!

I am so excited about my next project! I have had this idea for over a month and I just got around to finishing it! I was bummed when I saw that some other ladies had the same idea, but mine is still a little different. I am in LOVE with pinwheels right now! I decided that I wanted to make some to decorate for May. So this is what I came up with!

 I originally was going to make them with paper, but decide after I saw them made out of fabric on Fowlsinglefile that fabric was the way to go! I also am providing a tutorial on how I made mine! I took a lot of shortcuts! So here we go!

Supply List

Wooden dowels
Dried beans
Little bucket pails
Ribbon
Hot glue gun
Glue sticks
Assorted Fabric
Fabric mat and ruler
Rotary cutter
Buttons
Steam and Seam(double sided iron on)
Iron
Scissors

Directions

1. Take your fabric and decide what size you want your pinwheels to be. Mine were 6x6, 4x4, and 3.5x3.5.  Each pinwheel takes two pieces of different fabric.  I cut 6 pieces of fabric for each size to equal 9 pinwheels!

 2. Cut your steam and seam the same sizes as your material! You will need 9 pieces total.

3. Put the steam and seam between both pieces of material and iron together!
4. Fold one corner to the corner across from it forming a triangle.

5. Take your scissors and cut almost to the middle. Fold the square the opposite way to form a triangle and cut that almost to the middle as well!

6. Fold on corner in from each of the four pieces and hot glue each piece down as you go.

7. After you have all your pieces glued to the center then hot glue a button in the center to hide the tips of the material.

8. Put your pinwheel to the side and grab you dowels! I found mine in the cake section at Wal Mart!

9. I left 3 of my dowels the size they came and the cut down the other 6 so that the pinwheels were different sizes.
10. Grab your ribbon and put a dab of glue at one end of the dowel. Then put the end of your ribbon on the glue and proceed to wrap the ribbon around the dowel to the other end! At the end cut your ribbon and put another dab of glue to hold the ribbon together!

11. You are almost finished! Grab your pinwheel and hot glue it to your ribbon dowel! You now have your pinwheel.
12. Pour your beans into a little bucket or pail and place your pinwheels into them. I found my buckets/pails at the dollar tree!

Reversible Car Seat Tents!!!

So I feel like I am so far behind on baby presents!  I have four friends that have had babies recently! Crazy how that works, but the point is that they have all had their babies and I still haven't given them a gift. I am a LOSER!!  I decided along time ago that I was going to attempt to make them all car seat tents! I have seen these all over the blogs and I think that they are brilliant! I know there are several different ideas on how to make them, so I put all my preferences together and got to work! 

I have only made 3 of them so far! Here is a picture of the fabric I used! I am so lucky to have such a great quilt store in the little town that I live in. The closest Wal Mart is 50 miles away and the closest craft store is 3 hours one way or 4 hours the other way! Needless to say our little quilt store is my sanity! It always has the cutest fabric. I especially love some of the boy fabric that they have in right now.  Alright, Alright I will stop bragging about our quilt store!
As I said I have 4 of these puppies to make, 3 boys and 1 girl.  I decided to make mine reversible, so that way my friends can change things up a bit when it gets dirty or something spilt on it they get sick of one print, then they can just flip it over!  It was a little extra work, but I love the versatility of both sides being used.  So, do you want to see some pictures or what?

I used a cute decorative stitch around the edge! I couldn't get my camera to focus, so this is the best picture of the stitching!

I am also going to add a picture of one of the holders! I chose to use fabric and velco instead of ribbon or a button.

I am on spring break this week! Yes, I still get a spring break because I am a teacher and I look forward to it each year! I have been supper busy painting my kitchen a burnt orange! I will post pictures later this week! Few I am exhausted, but I can't quit I have only 3 days left to craft before I have to go back to work!
